Mary Peltola and her politics Alaska winner 2022

Alaska has only one US House seat and that is won by Democrat Mary Peltola. She defeated star Republican Sarah Palin. She will be the first native Alaskan and first women to represent Alaska.
“I don’t think there will be another birthday like today,” Peltola exclaimed. She further added “My desire is to follow in Congressman Young’s legacy of representing all Alaskans, and I’m just looking forward to getting to work.”She also shared on social media that "Thank you to all Alaskans who have put their faith in me as the first woman in Alaska’s history to represent our state in the House of Representatives.Tonight, we’ve shown that we can win as a campaign that is pro-choice, pro-fish, pro-worker, and pro-Alaska."

Peltola lately been the director of the Kuskokwim River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission. She already has 10 years experience in the state Legislature. Her campaign team slogan “Alaska’s best shot at keeping an extremist from winning" won many hearts.

Alaska is crucial as here Donald Trump has beaten Joe Biden by 10 percentage points in the 2020 election.

From her conversations during her campaign we can say Peltola favours a national law protecting abortion rights, and supports some gun control measures, such as universal background checks.

On the question of transgender athletes her view is “My starting point is that sports should be fair for all students, and we must protect the rights of all students — especially those that are already subject to significant discrimination.”

She supports the need to rebuild the U.S. military presence in Alaska in light of recent Russian aggression.

Her views on natural resources is very balanced. Peltola advocates preservation as well as access to those resources for Native Alaskans and all residents in rural, underserved areas.
